Norfolk County has prepared a new draft by-law for Property Standards and is now embarking on the consultation period.

Property Standards by-laws are passed under the authority of the Building Code Act. Orders passed under such a by-law can be appealed to a Property Standards Committee. Property Standards by-laws address a range of property maintenance issues to ensure properties are properly maintained and do not create safety or health risks for occupants and visitors to properties.

The current County by-law was passed in 2007. It has many out-of-date legislative references and does not include the management of heritage properties. This revised proposal seeks to address these necessary changes and additions. You can view the proposed by law here.

We’d like your feedback. Please fill out the consultation form below if you have any comments you’d like to share or if you’d like to participate in our virtual consultation sessions, scheduled for October 28, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. and November 1, 2021 at 6:00 p.m.
