The Victoria Street Bridge located on Victoria Street between Pond Street and Sherman Street, which spans the Lynn River in the town of Simcoe, requires a major rehabilitation of the bridge structure. The work will be completed using a 2-staged construction approach.
- Stage 1 construction – north half of bridge
- Stage 2 construction – south half of bridge
The work will include the bridge deck replacement, bridge barrier and railing replacement, sidewalk replacement, watermain replacement from Pond Street to the east side of the bridge, road and asphalt restoration, and associated traffic control.
Information for the Public
In order to expedite the work in a safe environment, vehicular traffic control measures will be in effect. During construction, one eastbound lane, and one westbound lane will be maintained for both stages. Signage and lane delineation markers will be in place.
During construction, the pedestrian sidewalk on the south side of Victoria Street across the bridge will be closed for the duration of the project. Pedestrian traffic will be detoured to the north via the Norfolk Sunrise Trail, Argyle Street and Culver Street.
