Through the Norfolk County Economic Recovery Plan, the County is implementing a variety of programs to support and enable economic recovery and ongoing resiliency throughout the local economy. 

Included within the plan is the establishment of several one-time grant funding programs, to help support economic recovery initiatives in industries and areas highly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. 

 

To qualify, organizations must be non-commercial entities, such as not-for-profit organizations (including Chambers of Commerce, Boards of Trade, BIAs, and Associations) or those that have charitable status with the Canada Revenue Agency.

General details applicable to ALL Grants

Minimum grant amount: $1000

Maximum grant amount: $5000

Available Funding:  $30,000 for each grant program

 

What types of organizations can apply?

The following organizations that are providing a benefit to Norfolk County can apply:

  • An organization registered as having charitable status by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA)
  • Provincially registered non-commercial entities, such as Chambers of Commerce, Boards of Trade and BIA

What types of applications are not eligible?

  • Individual or for-profit business applications
  • Requests for emergency relief
  • Initiatives not aligned with the goals of this grant
  • Initiatives that take place outside of Norfolk County

What types of expenses are ineligible?

  • Deficit or debt reduction
  • Retroactive expenses
  • Ongoing business operating expenses such as utilities, rent, and insurance. Operating expenses related to a specific project such as equipment, marketing and salaries may be eligible.
  • Endowment matching grant

Mandatory criteria

  • The organization demonstrates a commitment to the project through a meaningful contribution of their own human and/or financial resources. The project requires a 50/50 matching contribution from the applying organization.  In-kind contribution is acceptable for the 50% organizational contribution.
  • The organization demonstrates fiscal responsibility, effective management, skills, and expertise
  • Have a clear evaluation and measurement process to track and report on project impact
  • The organization must track progress and provide a report of outcomes to County.

Important Timelines

  • Applications are being accepted until Wednesday, December 1, 2021
  • Approved projects will be announced by mid-February, 2022
  • Grant Funds to be disbursed in February, 2022
  • Interim project report to be received by Friday, July 29, 2022
  • All project must be completed by Wednesday, November 30, 2022
  • All final reports are due no later than two months after the end of the project. The final report of the final project must be received no later than January 31, 2023
  • Final reports will be used to provide a report to Council in 2023 on the outcomes of the grants program.
