Aug, 27, 2019, Simcoe, ON – The Recreational Facilities Advisory Board (RFAB) continued working toward making the ALL Norfolk Community Hub a reality at this week’s board meeting, held Aug 26 in Council Chambers.

The group – which consists of both residents and members of council – got an update from Deputy Mayor Amy Martin, who reported back on Norfolk County’s activities at this year’s Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) conference.

Martin told the Board about the Province’s plans to open funding applications for things like community centres and arenas – part of the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program – on September 3.

The group also got an update from its communications working group, which hopes to begin reaching out to local youth, athletes, seniors and others to raise awareness about how a new recreational facility in Norfolk would improve quality of life for potential users.

Also on the agenda was discussion on project timelines, facility requirements and the financial implications of potential funding from the provincial and federal governments.
