Nov. 14 – Have you ever wondered what a true Victorian Christmas dinner looked like?

What foods were on the table? How did the tables of the rich compare to those in less fortunate households?

Caroline McLachlan Darling, a culinary food historian will explore these topics and more during a presentation on Victorian Christmas foods Nov. 21 at Norfolk County Archives & Eva Brook Donly Museum in Simcoe.

Darling has been studying Victorian foodways since the age of 15 when she began cooking on a wood stove. Since that point, she has prepared cuisine on a number of different wood burning rangers and open hearths. Currently, she can be found at Hamilton’s Dundurn National Historic Site as one of the cooking demonstrators.

The presentation begins at 7 p.m. Admission is by donation. For more, visit nca-ebdm.ca.
