DELHI, ON –MAY 30, 2018 – Norfolk County is proud to announce that the Delhi Administration Building has been awarded Natural Resources Canada’s ENERGY STAR® certification for superior energy performance. The Delhi Administration Building is one of the first buildings to be certified in Canada.

“Congratulations to Norfolk County, whose Delhi Administration Building was among the first to qualify for ENERGY STAR certification in Canada. Energy-efficient buildings play a key role in helping Canada achieve its greenhouse gas reduction commitments, and we are proud to recognize organizations that are leading the way,” said the Honourable Jim Carr, Canada’s Minister of Natural Resources.

ENERGY STAR certification is awarded to buildings that demonstrate a high level of energy efficiency, and is a tangible sign of our commitment to environmental stewardship. Our ENERGY STAR score of 93 means that our building’s energy performance is among the best in the country. ENERGY STAR certified buildings are verified to perform in the top 25 percent of similar buildings nationwide from an energy efficiency standpoint, adjusted for weather and building operating characteristics such as occupancy, weekly operating hours, etc.

“We’re honoured to earn the ENERGY STAR certification for superior energy performance at the Delhi Administration Building. It is a strong testament to Norfolk County’s commitment to energy efficiency throughout municipal operations. This certification further validates Norfolk County’s reputation as being an
“environmentally responsible municipality” said Michael Simoes, Norfolk County Contracts Coordinator, Energy and Facilities.

Norfolk County is a municipality of 64,044 located on the north shore of Lake Erie in southwestern Ontario.  Situated between Elgin County and Haldimand County, Norfolk County is largely rural and is a restructured (2001) single-tier municipality consisting of a number of smaller communities including the former Townships of Norfolk and Delhi, Town of Simcoe, and part of the former City of Nanticoke.
