It’s back – Norfolk County Archives’ annual Genealogy Symposium will return Sept. 17.

The symposium will include three speakers and a workshop with informative sessions on using municipal archival collections for family history research, how to trace Irish ancestors, and how to preserve valuable family records.

Take a tour of the ‘reading room’ to see some of the resources and equipment available for public use to assist with your own ancestry research. Sessions are for both beginners and avid genealogists alike. Local vendors will be on hand as well as used books on genealogy and local history for sale.

“We’re very excited to bring the Symposium back for a second year,” said Joshua Klar Norfolk County Archivist. “We’re seeing a lot of interest in genealogy locally, and want to make sure residents of Norfolk have the ability and tools to explore their history.”

The event takes place at Norfolk County Archives at Eva Brook Donly Museum in Simcoe (109 Norfolk St. South) from 12 until 4:30 p.m.

Tickets are $20 per person and available in-person at the Norfolk County Archives, calling Service Norfolk at 519-426-5870 or 226-NORFOLK Ext. 2233 or online here.
