June 19 – It will be a truly unique night of music at the Teeterville Pioneer Museum June 22.

This year’s Music and Moonshine 2019 spotlights songs, fiddling, and Ottawa Valley step dancing all in one event.

The Sandplains Pickers is a band comprised of country and bluegrass favourites Darrin and Alison Schott, singer/songwriter Ian Bell, and bass and guitar player Matt Rait. In concert, the members of this versatile foursome trade off on vocals, guitars, fiddle, mandolins, banjos, harmonica, concertina, and string bass. Look forward to some great three-part harmony singing as well.

Alanna Jenish is an award-winning fiddle player from Oshawa. She grew up in an Irish-Canadian family of traditional music lovers. With a keen ear and natural feel for the melody, Alanna won her first junior fiddle championship after only nine months of playing and has since accumulated numerous honours. Now in her early twenties, Jenish has over a decade of performance experience under her belt and has toured professionally with the Scott Woods Band and The Great Canadian Fiddle Show. She maintains a busy schedule freelancing for numerous artists.

Charlotte Claire and Maria Peppler are Ottawa Valley-style step dancers who are mainstays of the province’s traditional step dance scene and perform and compete across Ontario and beyond.

As usual, before the show, the Crooked Stovepipe Folk Orchestra will present an informal outdoor serenade.

This old-time garden party-style concert will be held just a few nights after the full Strawberry Moon and will be a great way to usher in the summer with a truly local celebration of Norfolk County music, not to mention a good opportunity to laugh, cry, sing along, and tap your toes.

The show begins at 7:30 p.m. Admission is by donation, please bring your own lawn chair. For more, visit teetervillemuseum.ca or call 519-443-4400.
