Simcoe’s waste transfer station

May 8 – Are you looking to get rid of that old, musty couch?

How about the broken down washer taking up space?

Do you have a mattress you’d like to bounce?

Norfolk County is hosting $16 Days at the waste transfer stations in both Simcoe and South Walsingham next week.

From May 13-18, residents will pay just $16 per metric ton (two ton limit per customer).

Items accepted include appliances, regular household furniture, bicycles, carpet, pool covers, even broken down hot tubs or pianos. No item can exceed 10 feet in length.

The new-look Simcoe Transfer Station (164 Fourteenth St.) is open Monday-Friday from 8a.m.-4:15p.m. and Saturdays from 9a.m.-1p.m.

The South Walsingham station (1180 3rd Concession, Port Rowan) is currently on winter hours until Victoria Day and operates Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10a.m.-3:45p.m. and Saturdays from 9a.m.-1p.m.

Norfolk’s regular tipping fee rate is $122 per ton, and any resident bringing over one ton is subject to excess load fees.

Some of the items not permitted include farm machinery, large trees, automotive parts, electronics, motor oil, paint cans, and glass jars.

Cash, MasterCard, Visa, and debit are all accepted forms of payment.
