VITTORIA, Ont. – January 31, 2018 – Scot Brockbank of North Shore Athletics was named the Norfolk County Entrepreneur of the Year by Norfolk County’s Tourism and Economic Development Department.

Susan Judd and Amanda Dooney, owners of Ride the Bine, were named the Norfolk County Youth Entrepreneurs of the Year by Venture Norfolk.

Michael Kenny, owner and author of, was named Norfolk County Travel Writer of the Year by Norfolk County Tourism and Economic Development.

Long Point Eco Adventures was named Sustainable Tourism Ambassador of the Year by the Long Point World Biosphere Foundation. Lago Trattoria won the Restaurant Wine Excellence Award from the Ontario South Coast Wineries and Growers Association.  ​

The awards were presented at the 11th annual Economic Development Symposium held in Vittoria. The event was sold out, with about 200 business owners and community leaders gathering to learn, network and celebrate success. Speakers included EJ Carrion, Dusty Zamecnik and Tommy Devos of Hometown Brew Co., Carrie Woolley of Woolley’s Lamb, Joy Allgood of Joy Bakery Cafe, Phil Poss of Victoria Eldercare and Red Apple Rides, and Amanda Brodhagen.

The entrepreneur awards are presented to honour enterprising people whose businesses have made significant differences in Norfolk County.  The award is a symbol of achievement and celebrates the accomplishments of business leaders who have established new ventures or lead existing ones into renewed growth.

“Evidence of more and more young people starting their own businesses is an indication of a community in transition and the prospect of a vibrant future,” said Mayor Luke. “Let us continue to foster and nurture our young entrepreneurs who will be our business tycoons in the not too distant future”.
