Simcoe, On – October 27, 2015 The Norfolk Arts Centre is pleased to present the 6th annual Made in Norfolk Show and Sale, running November 9th to 30th, Monday through Saturday from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm. For the month of November the Norfolk Arts Centre will turn the ground floor gallery space into a gift shop that exclusively features handcrafted, original work by Norfolk County artists and artisans. This event includes a wide range of unique, high-quality items reasonably priced between $5 and $200.

Though it has undergone many changes in its six years of operation, the motivation behind the event remains the same – to showcase the talents of Norfolk County artists and artisans and make original fine art and artisanal crafts accessible to the broader community. The event presents the work of both professionals in their field like metalsmith and jeweler, Pam Kinney and young artisans who are just embarking on their professional careers like leather-goods maker, Rob Van Ecke. Made in Norfolk provides patrons with a great selection of handmade products. Visit the Norfolk Arts Centre during the month of November to enjoy this once-a-year event, featuring new work by some of Norfolk County’s finest artists and artisans.

Returning to Made in Norfolk Studio Show and Sale for 2015 is Meet a Maker, a speaker’s series that will introduce members of the community to individual artists and artisans participating in this year’s Made in Norfolk Show and Sale. Speakers will share information about their history as a maker, their creative process and production methods. The series aims to support and generate awareness of and for contemporary craft practices, professional artists, and cultural producers, and to highlight the significance of the creative community in Norfolk County. Starting at 6:30 pm, each speaker will give a short talk followed by a question and answer period. Talks will take place on: Thursday, November 12 (Amber Kalmar, jeweler); Thursday, November 19 (Cristina Zanella, painter/weaver); and Thursday, November 26 (Suzanne Andrews, professional artisan). Admission to this program is free.
