Simcoe, ON – February 7, 2018 Celebrating its 10th anniversary, the SoupART Bowls fun-raiser, is set for March 22nd at the Norfolk Arts Centre. Featuring soups from bistros and restaurants throughout Norfolk County, SoupART Bowls is a “friend-raising” event that brings together and highlights the creativity of the visual and culinary arts in Norfolk County in support of children and youth programs at the NAC. Since its inception in 2009, this event has raised over $42,000 for the NAC’s arts education programs.

Central to the success of the event are its community partners: the Norfolk Potters’ Guild and Studio who donates over 300 handcrafted ceramic bowls and the respected Norfolk County restaurants that contribute their original soup recipes. “We always enjoy the event. Everyone is so friendly” says Brad Lewis co-owner of Urban Parisian, Port Dover and reigning soup champion from 2017. “It’s good to see fellow business owners chatting and engaging in this friendly competition.”

With the purchase of a ticket patrons select an original ceramic bowl made by a member of the Norfolk Potters’ Guild, receive a SoupART Bowls souvenir cookbook featuring recipes from the participating establishments. Patrons spend a leisurely evening wandering through the galleries enjoying soups from some of Norfolk County’s finest restaurants. Beverages from a local winery and brewery will be available, as will cheese care of event sponsor, Jensen Cheese.

While satisfying their appetite, patrons can have fun casting their vote for “favourite soup” and “friendliest station,” viewing the exhibitions: “Material. Form. Subject: Emerging Artists” and “Off Course: Norfolk Secondary Student Visual Art Exhibition,” all the while mingling with friends and family. Guests also have the opportunity to enter their name in a draw for a $50 door prize courtesy of the Potters’ Guild.

SoupART runs in two services: Service 1 from 4:30 – 6:00 pm; Service 2 from 6:30 – 8:00 pm. Tickets are $30 (10% discount for NAC members) and available for purchase at the Norfolk Arts Centre (21 Lynnwood Avenue, Simcoe) and online through media sponsor, snapd Haldimand-Norfolk.
