SIMCOE, March 4, 2015 – The community members of Norfolk Pathways for People are inviting the public to join them in Port Dover on Sunday, March 8th for their first trail walk of the year.

The walk will start at Silver Lake Park and will take participants through downtown, past the Harbour Museum to the new Riverfront Park.   The group will finish with a short walk on the Lynn Valley Trail. The walk will begin at 2:00 p.m. and will last approximately an hour.  There will be refreshments available following the walk in the Lions Club building at Silver Lake as well as the chance to win some great draw prizes.

“Residents of an area are also local tourists of the area,” said Dr. Katherine Loflin, the featured speaker at Norfolk County’s 8th Economic Development Symposium in January.  The Winter Wonderland Walk provides an opportunity for county residents and many others to not only explore the trail but also experience and learn more about the services, historical features and entertainment resources that exist in their local communities.  The Port Dover community has much to offer its own residents, residents of Norfolk County and its visitors.

In our rugged Canadian winters it is often easier to not explore or venture outside in unfavourable weather.  However, a brisk walk or even a leisurely stroll outside can provide much needed exercise and rejuvenation necessary for continued good health.

Pathways for People is a community coalition that advocates for local trail development and promotes walking and cycling in Norfolk County for health, recreation, and as a form of active transportation. They host three trail events each year to introduce the public to the extensive trail system the county is so proud of.
