Online Birth Registration and Birth Certificate Requests

On November 19, 2007, the Ministry of Consumer and Business Services launched their service for online birth registration and birth certificate applications. Parents can now register and order birth certificates online by filling out an interactive form with help features to guide people through the application process. Payment for online applications must be made by credit card. When completed, the form is sent electronically to the Ontario Registrar General (ORG). The new online application is accessible at the ServiceOntario website at Service Ontario Birth Certificate Application

Travel Letters are no longer available for births occurring on or after November 19, 2007. If parents are required to travel with their newborn and have not applied for a birth certificate at the time of registration, please contact the Office of the Registrar General at 1-800-461-2156 or visit www.serviceontario.ca

Applications for Birth Certificates for Adults and Children over 8 years

Applications for adults and children over 8 years can also be completed online using the same interactive form. However, at this time, these applicants must print and sign their completed applications.
