I am a student, how do I apply for a summer job?

Summer student positions are posted during a specific period, usually mid-February to mid-March, in which you may electronically submit your resume for individual positions.

Can I submit a resume and/or application that will be kept on file for future vacant positions?

Norfolk County does accept unsolicited resumes (resumes that are not meant for a current posting) and maintains such resumes on file for thirty (30) days. It is helpful if you indicate the department or area of interest on your resume so we know what type of position you are looking for. After thirty (30) days, you are welcome to submit another resume to be kept on file.

I have submitted a resume, what now?

If you have applied for a specific posting, your resume will be short listed and reviewed following the closing date. Only those applicants selected for interviews will be contacted.

If you have submitted an unsolicited resume, you may be considered for any suitable positions that are posted within the next thirty (30) day period. Should you be selected for an interview, you will be contacted. After the thirty (30) days is completed you are welcome to submit another resume to be kept on file.

Where is the Human Resources and Staff Development Department located and what are the hours of operation?

The Human Resources and Staff Development Department is located in the Norfolk Arts Centre at 21 Lynnwood Avenue Simcoe, Ontario N3Y 2V7 (view map). The hours of operation are 8:30am to 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday (excluding Statutory and Civic holidays).

Why aren’t all vacant positions advertised on the Norfolk County website?

All postings, non-union and bargaining unit, are advertised internally as per Non-Union Policy and applicable collective agreements. In the event the positions is not filled internally and the hiring department requests the positions be advertised externally, such positions will be advertised on the Norfolk County website at that time.
